Goals for 2009
- Give 1,500 students the experience of getting their hands dirty and tasting new foods on the farm through our Group Programs.
- Host two Family Farm Day programs, serving at least 300 people.
- Develop and implement three 6-week food-based entrepreneurial youth development programs with teenagers in partnership with community organizations in West Louisville, guiding youth as they grow, harvest and sell vegetables at their neighborhood farmers' market.
- Provide professional development for teachers and food service personnel of the Jefferson County Public Schools and others.
- Create an outdoor kitchen on the farm, taking the learning experience to a new level, exciting children as they prepare and taste recipes made with the fresh, healthy produce that they harvest on the farm.
- Continue to provide scholarships so that no group is turned away for lack of funds, and more than 60% of youth served by our program qualify for free or reduced lunch at their schools.
- Build a base of financial and volunteer support to continue reconnecting Louisville youth with food, farming, and the land.
